Goals are like a Cookie Jar

Remember as a child when you would always want a cookie but your mother would place the jar on the highest shelf in the kitchen?

Whenever she wasn’t around you would sneak into the kitchen and do whatever it took to get the jar down and claim your prize. Push a chair with all of your might, climb up on the counter, take a spatula or stick and try to push the jar to the edge so you could catch it. Finally, you’d somehow manage to get your cookie!

Now that you’ve grown up your goals have changed drastically from wanting a single cookie to things like marriage, finding your career, etc. It is easy to give up when you don’t know how you are going to reach for those goals like you did with the cookie jar.

However, one thing to remember is that when you wanted that cookie you did everything in your power to get it. The same rules apply in your life now. Even though you have grown the same principals apply meaning that you should use every creative bone in your body to come up with ways of finally getting the thing that you have been working so hard to accomplish.

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
