My Thoughts on President Donald Trump Speaking at Liberty University’s 2017 Commencement

by Jeremy Carden

trumpatlibertyuniversityfeuerherd

Considering how much President Donald Trump has been in the news (and Twitter) before and after his entry into the White House, I just wanted to give some of my thoughts about him speaking at Liberty University this weekend.

Let me just put it out there; I am just a student at Liberty University. My academic career for the time being will be coming to a close within the next few days after I turn in my final paper.

I have had an amazing time both as an online and residential student. Not to mention, I am about to hit my third year working for Liberty’s online department as an academic advisor.

My current job title aside, I am writing this post as a student and NOT as an employee of the university.

No one pressured me into writing this post, and I am just going to discuss my own feelings about this particular commencement speaker.

LibertyUniversity-Commencement-WilliamsStadium-0014m

I want to speak to everyone that is questioning why Trump is speaking at this particular university’s commencement despite all of the controversy surrounding his character.

Politics and whatnot aside, a lot of people do not think Trump’s personality and religious beliefs make him someone that would fit the glove of a “Liberty University commencement speaker.”

The thing about Liberty students that has astounded me over the past couple of years is the group of people who either mail back their degrees along with expressing feelings of shame for even being a Liberty student at all.

At the end of the day, Donald Trump and Jerry Fawell Jr. are not the professors who taught the classes that students had to pass in order to earn their credit hours. SallieMae and other loan agencies are not going to wipe away the debt that students owe just because they were Liberty students (if they are can someone let me know? Seriously, I need this student loan monkey off of my back…).

Jokes aside,  I do not think that the decisions of President Falwell supporting Donald Trump justify any past or present Liberty student for feeling like their connection to the university has been tarnished.

Do I agree with everything the university has been doing over the past few years?

As a student, I feel that Liberty University is not the same college that I visited back in 2008 as a young College for a Weekend (C.F.A.W) student. Some of the values and direction of the school seems to have shifted since I walked around campus a few years ago.

5492478_20121107_5904JR

However, I have lived in Lynchburg away from the campus for about three years now. Yes, I have worked for the school for almost three years, but working at an off-campus site and living on campus are two different things.

I cannot give a true insight about my thoughts on the school because I have not been there for awhile. I can only speak about my time there, and some of the differences that I have noticed. My job does not allow me to see behind the scenes as to why some of the decisions that have been were made. I just hope Liberty continues to be a positive institution of education and faith rather than the political convention that a lot of people view it as today.

With that being said, I want to get back to the students who are willingly mailing back their degrees. You are throwing away four years (or more) of your life away just because you get angered by the decisions of another person. With that in mind, I hate thinking that some people are not going to commencement just because Trump is speaking.

Even if you do not go to the main ceremony, I hope that you will go to your individual ceremony to cross the stage. Graduates, you have EARNED this! There is no reason to not go just because you disagree or dislike the people standing behind the podium at the football stadium on Saturday morning.

Commencement-Ceremony-Header

I have to say as a person who does not really dabble in politics or identify myself with a particular political party, it is pretty cool to say the President of the United States is speaking at my commencement!

Come on, not a lot of college students have the privilege to say that about their graduation. Sure, their speaker may have a better commencement speech, but level with me on this one here.

I go into all of my thoughts regarding the upcoming commencement in this video:

Consider this a video that you can listen to in the background while you are making dinner or cleaning out your closet. Maybe you will nod your head in agreement to some of the things that I say, or you will immediately dislike my video before shutting off your computer.

Regardless, I would like to get some feedback in the comment below. It is always interesting to get the thoughts of others on topics like this.

518ea3486e95b.image

I would like to request that if you disagree with others below, please refrain from tearing each other apart. Respectfully engage in a conversation with others that will leave both parties thinking about the topic at hand.

Am I angry or excited about Donald Trump speaking at my commencement this year?

I will put it like this; I am excited to be graduating! Republican candidate Mitt Romney spoke at my commencement in 2012 (yes, I have a few Liberty degrees under my belt). I was actually excited about a man who could possibly be the next President of the United States of America was speaking at graduation!

However, I was disappointed that his speech and just the atmosphere of that particular day was more about politics than the actual graduates. I was sitting with the other graduates, and I was astounded on how divided the crowd was.

mitt-romney-lynchburg

Whenever Romney said something that had even an ounce of political substance behind it; half of the stadium applauded while the rest were as stiff as stones.

I have no doubt that the same thing may occur this weekend. Also, it would not surprise me if there is a lot of booing and jeering going on…

Considering everything that has occurred in the past year around Liberty’s campus, I would not be surprised if there are large groups of protesters this weekend. Maybe more protesters than actual graduates…

Walking into the main ceremony, I want it to feel like a true graduation. Not a riot like the desegregation movement in schools or people boycotting a business for making “offensive statements.”

Honestly, I want this to be a great commencement. I want Trump to give a great speech to inspire us graduates! We are about to go into the real world outside of Blackboard and weekly school assignments. I want to get a speech that will inspire me to go out into the world and make a difference while becoming a better person.

Overall, if he gives a great speech that we will be talking about for weeks to come (in a positive way) then I will be satisfied.

I want truth and a sincere speech rather than a false sense of religious beliefs to blend in with the university that this event will be taking place at.

Liberty-University-Commencement-04

To everyone traveling to Lynchburg this week, I hope you have a safe trip! It might be raining, and “Drenchburg” does not play when it comes to the weather.

Just remember that use this weekend to cheer for your graduating family members and friends. Do not let the true purpose of this event drown in the sea of politics (and possibly rain) because this is a defining moment of achievement for the students!

Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots Theory: Who Will Get Shot?

By Jeremy Carden

Well fellow HAHN addicts, we have one again arrived at a mid-season finale that will surely give us more questions than answers!

If you have been wondering about my hiatus on blogs about the hit TV show, you might have missed the message about my recaps/theories being posted on Youtube. Towards the bottom of this blog, you will find links to my social media outlets.

I highly suggest subscribing/following my accounts to keep up with anything that I post. Trust me, I have been doing videos for nearly a year now, and they have not been getting the same number of views that my blogs have been.

That is why this blog is so important because it will contain my video about who gets shot in the new episode.

Screenshot_45

Warlock and his crew follow Hanna back to the motel and a fight breaks out! We see Hanna, Mitch, Benny and Quincy Jr. (most likely still tucked away in bed) come face-to-face with Warlock as he literally crashes through the door.

Mitch and Benny are outnumbered, and War pulls out his gun in the middle of the scuffle. Hanna pleads for everyone to stop, and we see War fire a bullet…

Screenshot_42

But who will get hit by the bullet?

For my full breakdown of the scene based on the preview trailer, be sure to watch my video below. I go into extreme detail about my thoughts just like I used to do in the blog.

Again, if you have not done so already, I urge you to subscribe to my Youtube channel. I will most likely continue to market my videos this way. You know create the blog with the video in the post that way you are able to keep up with what I am doing.

Screenshot_31

Considering we have to wait until the summer before we get more HAHN, I will still continue to make videos, blogs and memes during the hiatus. Something tells me this next episode will give us a lot to talk about!

What Happened to JTunesMusic???

by Jeremy Carden

I wanted to make this short blog to let you all know that have followed me for the past few years that I have moved into vlogging. Overall, I have found it easier to create video blogs rather than spend the time that I do typing up the blogs that you have read in the past.

wpid-haves-and-have-nots-1

For all of my Have and Have Not, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z and other franchise fans who have followed me for this long, I think you from the bottom of my heart.

Do not fear because I have been making video for a few months now! Here is a link to my Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/jbiblecarden/videos.

It is called JCC Theories to See…the name is still a work in progress.

jlvhdzr

The main reason that I am making this blog is to inform everyone that does not know already that I have moved to Youtube. It is not surprising that my views are not as huge as they were with my blogs. That is because a lot of my faithful followers were not aware that I changed media methods.

I apologize for not mentioning this sooner, but I wanted to get a good number of videos on my channel before I made the announcement.

Please subscribe to my new channel in order to keep up with my theories and episode reviews on many franchises. I hope to see you all on my channel commenting and subscribing!

Thank you all for making my blog the success that it is because that is what gave me the confidence to move to the next level on Youtube!!!!

Here are some sample videos about the things that I used to blog about:

Tyler Perry’s The Haves and The Have Nots Theory: Will Warlock Kill Wyatt?

By Jeremy Carden

11907208_914450651960723_2040476160599964211_n (1)

Wyatt is back to his old self again, and that can only lead to trouble…

Keep your thinking caps on for the duration of this blog because I hope to connect everything that we have seen so far into one full circle!

This blog not only has to do with Wyatt’s bad habits, but it involves people who were once background characters. Now they have stepped into the forefront as key players that will have a much larger role in how things at this point in the series will play out.

Screenshot_178

I am referring to characters like Warlock and Jennifer. Until now, these 2 characters have made cameo appearances in the past 3 seasons. However, they now seem to be holding enough cards in their hand to remain seated at the table along with some of the more major characters on the show.

Wyatt’s parents are in prison (at least for the weekend), and Jennifer is relying on him to testify in court. Her vendetta seems to be entirely directed at Jim Cryer, and Wyatt is her most lethal bullet.

Screenshot_180

She has now released the $12 million inheritance into the hands of this “responsible young man.”

This is where I think that things will backfire in Jennifer’s face…

Screenshot_45

Based on their last encounter, Wyatt expressed some fear because he knows that his parents will kill him for what he did to them. I think his fear is more towards Jim instead of Katheryn. Jim did beat him last season, and threw him into jail (which resulted in him getting sexually abused).

Jennifer’s main reason for giving him the money was for her prize evidence to get away to a safer location.

Despite telling Jim in Season 2 that he would never want to get high again, he has one of his old buddies bring him some of the “good stuff.” He also brought Wyatt the papers from Veronica’s facility that proves he made it through a majority of his stay in rehab.

Screenshot_207

Not only does he have the means to get high, but he now the resources to pass any drug test that he has to take.

The “friends” that Wyatt’s supplier wants to bring over like in the old days could cause one hell of a house party. I can imagine Katheryn’s face if she gets out of jail…

c640x360_36

She gets home and she’ll walk through her wrecked house filled with high, drunk and passed out “kids” while wearing a face like Madea when Joe threw a house party when she was in jail.

Screenshot_208

During the conversation, the one thing that stuck out to me was how the dealer said that Wyatt had to pay him the $80,000 for the big bag of drugs. His supplier would kill him AND Wyatt if he does not get the money.

Wyatt tells him not to worry because he will be getting $12 million very soon, and wants his friend to be his “main man.”

Screenshot_209

Ironic that Wyatt is going to lose his money in a smoke cloud of weed, and Katheryn said that Amanda would simply give her money away to the first person that asked for it.

Screenshot_152

What does any of this have to do with Warlock?

My theory is that Warlock is the supplier for Wyatt’s dealer. We know that he slings drugs around, and is practically the kingpin of Savannah.

download

Remember that Benny got about $2,000 worth of drugs to plant on Quincy so that he could be put away in jail for good.

The only other person who I would think gave him the drugs would be Quincy, but I think there is more supporting evidence for Warlock.

Screenshot_190

Here is how I think things will come around full circle:

For whatever reason, Wyatt is not able to testify in court against his parents. Not to mention he does not get his $12 inheritance from his grandfather which leads to his dealer NOT getting paid.

This means the dealer’s supplier does not get paid leading to a signed death warrant for both Wyatt and his friend.

3938178-tumblr_mylmketzcz1qaonh9o1_1280

I could not help but think about the movie Friday because we have 2 friends who are getting high, but their lives are in jeopardy because they do not have the money to pay off the drug supplier!

The reasons for Wyatt not testifying is that he does not pass the drug test, he overdoses or even worse; dies.

Screenshot_225

In the preview for the next episode, we see Wyatt in a suit and tie. Looks like he is in a restroom preparing to go into court or meet with Jennifer. It looks like he just took the stuff to clean himself up before going undetected during the drug test.

Again, I am not 100% certain how everything is going to play out, but Jennifer is going to lose her grip on Jim through Wyatt. She has way too many cards in her hands, and he is just a loose cannon.

Screenshot_206

Wyatt ends up biting off more than he can chew because let’s say that he does not get his full inheritance (even though the judge signed off the paper’s in the last episode).

Something is going to happen that prevents him from paying the $80k for the drugs that he, his dealer and possibly the group of friends who were invited to the Cryer Estate.

Screenshot_197

Warlock comes looking for the money, and after finding out that it is Jim Cryer’s son who owes him; he will come knocking on the front door.

Screenshot_216

Remember that Candace stated that Jim is afraid of Warlock, but Warlock is also furious at her for lying about how much she extorted from him.

Screenshot_220

I cannot say if it will be a “friendly” encounter between Warlock and Jim if they meet face to face again. I think it depends on what Warlock does in next week’s episode because he was about to kill Candace before noticing Quincy’s dead body on the floor.

If he dismisses anything she says before leaving, I think he will do what he can to get back at her or something along those lines. In the end, he knows that the Cryer family has more than enough money to pay the $80k in order to preserve Wyatt’s life.

ep202-own-hhn-5-949x534

For all we know, Jim might concoct a plan WITH Warlock to get back at Candy Cane. I bet he will pay him a lot more than $80k or $150k for his services.

Jim told David that the war between himself and Candace was not over as he blames her for Amanda’s death. He did get his revenge by killing Professor Cannon because he raped her.

Screenshot_146

I think that since it takes around 3-4 episodes just for 1 full day to pass in the HAHN series, it might be safe to assume that the Haves will get out of jail around the middle of the season.

Screenshot_221

Though we know that thinks to Maggie, David will be getting out much sooner than that.

11214730_1224279967598119_2389780844084131219_n

He has a bone to pick with Benny for sleeping with his wife…

Screenshot_78

Overall, Wyatt is going to ruin everything because of his bad habits, Jennifer is going to lose her best chance at revenge against Jim and Warlock is going to play a much larger role in the grand scheme of things.

What do you think about this theory? Will Jennifer and Warlock be major players in the upcoming episodes? Is Wyatt going to overdose or die? Who is the mystery supplier?

Tyler Perry’s The Haves and The Have Nots Theory: The Waters Run Deep Review

By Jeremy Carden

11907208_914450651960723_2040476160599964211_n

If you have read my blog about Maggie screwing herself over in the last episode, then you knew that this blog was coming.

At this point, I have watched the new episode 4 times already!

Honestly, I felt a bit “meh” after watching it. The first time that I watched it, I did not feel that I watched it as critically as I should have in terms of looking for clues to fuel my theory blogs. I was feeling the hype just because my favorite show was back on television!

The next day, I watched the show 2 times, but I still had an uneasiness feeling about it. Finally, I rewatched the episode today before writing my blogs before next week’s episode.

Screenshot_5

Honestly, you can breakdown the 45 minute episode into this small list:

  • 3 minutes recapping the previous season
  • 10 minutes of Jeffrey whining while Candace tries to calm him down
  • 5 minutes of Benny trying to convince Hanna to come to his house
  • 3 minutes of Hanna trying to convince Benny that the house is evil
  • 3 minutes of Veronica and Katheryn arguing against everything while entering the prison
  • 3 minutes of David and Jim silently entering the prison
  • 3 minutes of Jennifer playing Wyatt to testify and get him some of his inheritance
  • 30 seconds of both the male and female “Haves” groups reacting to phrase “cavity search”
  • 4 minutes of David and Jim threatening each other
  • 4 minutes of Veroninca concocting a plan to get herself and Katheryn out of prison
  • 20 seconds of Quitta leaving Quincy voicemails about if he got Benny or not
  • 2 minutes of Jennifer convincing the guard that her plan against the Haves will work
  • An unforeseen amount of time (probably the entire episode) of Veronica plotting her revenge
  • 8 minutes of Maggie and Landon going back and forth over leaking a story to the media

I can sum up the episode with just one word; setup.

As expected, this episode was supposed to be the setup for what is to come during the rest of Season 4.

Here is my problem with that; we saw characters who received great character development during Season 3 slam right into the wall during this episode!

Screenshot_36

The main characters that I am referring to are Maggie and Jeffrey. If you would like to get all of my thoughts on Maggie, you can read about it here. It is a blog dedicated to Maggie essentially digging her own grave by putting out the story about Jim and Veronica.

Both Maggie and Jeffrey got a good deal of character development last season, but now they have relapsed into the trap that most characters on this show fall into; stupid decision-making!

Screenshot_39

Again, you can get my full thoughts on Maggie in my other blog. You could tell that she was making a rash decision JUST to make a rash decision about leaking out that story! Landon was quick to call her out MULTIPLE times, but she still was willing to have the nation know that Jim covered up Wyatt’s hit-and-run charges alongside Veronica who was having relations with her clients (Benny).

He kept telling Maggie that they covered up a murder, and they are capable of anything. This includes coming after her in a rage over her actions. When told that she should not underestimate Veronica, Maggie replied that she should not underestimate her either.

Screenshot_42

Seriously, Maggie was always at the top of her game, and by the end of Season 3; she had Veronica right where she wanted her. All she had to do was sit on the sidelines, and she could have let the rest fall into place. Instead, she is signing her own death warrant.

Screenshot_8

Jeffrey is another character that stood up to Veronica, and then to person that he loves (Wyatt)! Basically, he has had enough of anyone giving him crap for his homosexual lifestyle. Even though his mom had him in an arranged marriage and trip to parenthood; Jeffrey had enough!

After Quincy nearly beat him to death last season, Jeffrey flips the script by stabbing the thug to death to save Candace’s life! What a way to end the season for Jeffrey right?

Unfortunately, this new bad ass Jeffrey is replaced with a 5-year-old version of himself. You know the Jeffrey we saw back in Season 1…

Screenshot_10

I can understand that someone like Jeffrey would react to his first kill in a similar fashion to what he did in the episode. However, it was his constant complaining and dumb decisions that made me cringe!

The argument that he and Candace had about calling the police and what they would do reminded me of that episode of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air  when Will was talking to Carlton about why the cops pull over black people in nice cars.

You have one black person who was born on the other side of the tracks, but knew how the system works (Will/Candace). The other black person lived a pampered lifestyle, and felt that they knew how the system worked (Carlton/Jeffrey).

I do not know if the cast or Tyler Perry wrote that bit into the episode, but props to whoever came up with that!

Screenshot_7

Looking at the scene again, I could not tell whose side I was really on. At first, I was with Jeffrey because he was talking about how it was self-defense.

Screenshot_17

However, Candace used that lawyer brain to good use with terminology and facts to back up why calling the police was a bad idea. The final nail in the coffin for me was when she said that Veronica could use this to her advantage to keep Jeffrey wrapped around her icy fingers.

Overall, Jeffrey is the kind of person I would not want to be lost anywhere with or get into any trouble with because he would either panic, snitch or does something dumb to give us away…

Again, I get that he was not thinking straight, but he was about to walk out of the front door covered in blood!

Screenshot_61

I cannot fault him for not wanting to move the body because I cannot stand the sight of blood, but Candace can’t move Quincy herself! I just hope that he can man up for a little bit, and help Candace get through this rather than slow her down.

What I wanted to see happen was Jeffrey being shocked at the murder, but got reassurance from Candace that it was alright. Then she could have brought up the fact that Quincy nearly killed him before last season when he did not tell him where Candace was hiding. This could have made Jeffrey a bit more secure knowing that he stopped a murderer from hurting anyone else.

Screenshot_13

Jeffrey (still shaken) would have calmed down for the moment. However, during random moments throughout the season, he would have flashbacks and nightmares of the killing. This would cause him to find a way to cope. Perhaps with alcohol or even drugs as his crutch because there might be a chance that addictive genes flowed from Veronica into Jeffrey.

Jim called out Katheryn for blaming her raging alcoholic father as the reason that Wyatt is prone to pick up a bottle. The same could be true for Jeffrey since his mother was addicted to pain pills once, and stayed away from alcohol for years because she was also addicted to the bottle.

Any of these scenarios would have been great character development rather than Jeffrey whimpering and possibly snitching on what went down in Candace’s house.

Screenshot_1

Seeing characters that are intelligent, but make dumb decisions just for the sake of making dumb decisions does not appeal to me. It makes it feels as they do it on purpose to put themselves in vulnerable positions for the sake of moving the plot along.

It reminds me of Jim going outside to meet Candace in the front yard only to be kidnapped by Warlock’s crew. Not to mention Candace agreeing to meet the overly compliant Jim in the park at night only to be kidnapped by the Malones.

Basically, characters who are in control allow their emotions to get the better of them which results in them screwing themselves over.

Screenshot_34

Maggie is desperate to get David’s named cleared, and to get him out of prison. Jim was looking for comfort after getting his ass handed to him by Quincy. Candace was distraught after Benny died, and she thought that she had nothing left to lose. That was why she made the demands to Jim, and revealed that she was carrying his child. Remember that she thought Benny was dead before it was revealed that Katheryn had him moved to another hospital.

I just hope that this theme does not continue to repeat itself in future seasons because it does not make the characters look good in my opinion.

Screenshot_45

Wyatt is getting played by Jennifer, and that is really all I have to say about that. I think that he is being a bit too compliant with everything she is telling him. Her vendetta is against Jim, but she is also trying to get justice for Little Lizzie.

Seriously, if Wyatt testifies that he was the one to hit Lizzie, but his parents and the Harringons covered it up; where does that leave him?

oprah.com-20150826-hhn-222-promo-2-949x534-550x309

Jennifer promised him immunity, but where is he going to go? The Haves were arrested on television, Jim’s outside kids with Celine was broadcasted all over national television and the original story about the hit-and-run quickly traveled across Georgia.

Everyone in the U.S. will know Wyatt was the one to do the crime, but I still do not get how he won’t get any time!

Screenshot_78

Wyatt might not be doing drugs anymore, but alcohol is his new crack. He was already an alcoholic, but this is ridiculous! I bet he will have a field day while his parents are in prison over the weekend.

Basically, he is fine with getting payback for what they did to him, and Jennifer is using him for her own purposes.

Screenshot_57

I think Hanna HAS to come to Benny’s house because he made a good point about child services knowing that her house burnt down. What is she going to do?

They will not allow her to maintain custody after learning that her and Quincy Jr. are staying at a motel.

Screenshot_65

Quitta is wondering where her brother is without knowing that he is bleeding out on a floor. Not sure if she knew the location of Candace’s house, but she might be in more episodes if she does know.

However, Quincy probably went to Hanna’s house and then Candace’s. My guess is that Quitta is in the dark about the location of the house; at least for right now.

Screenshot_67

Did anyone notice Quincy’s chest move a couple of times, or think that his hand moved when his phone was ringing?

Screenshot_49

Obviously, the long-awaited Jim vs. David fight is coming. These two went back and forth the entire episode either verbally or through body language.

Screenshot_53

David has made it clear that if anything happens to his wife; Jim is gonna get it.

Screenshot_54

Jim wants nothing to do with David because he covered for Veronica about what she did to Wyatt.

I think that David and Katheryn are the MOST DANGEROUS characters in the series. Katheryn told Candace that she does not want to awaken the true bitch in her.

David told Veronica that sometimes he can be a son of a bitch. Then he told Jim that he is a good friend, but a better enemy. Also, he will unleash an enemy the likes of which he has never seen. He says that line a few times in the episode. I’m assuming that is his new catchphrase. Remember when it was “I’ll handle it?”

Screenshot_72

We saw in the preview for next week that if anything happened to her son, Katheryn was going to give Veronica something to fear!

I am telling you that these two are slow to anger, but they will win every time! David has already yanked the $7.4 million rug from underneath Candace’s feet.

Screenshot_20

Funniest part of the episode was obviously the banter than Veronica and Katheryn had while entering the prison. From removing their jewelry, Veronica taking off her hair and the threat of a cavity search; I was dying from laughter!

Screenshot_24

It was an interesting dynamic to see them behind bars. Especially for Jim because he made Wyatt endure the same treatment last season.

Considering that the Haves will most likely be jail for the entire weekend, my guess is that the midseason finale will be when they are released after they get on the phone with one of their legal partners.

Around that time, the story of Jim teaming up with Veronica to cover up the hit-and-run charges will be released which will fan the flames of vengeance. This will lead to the second half of the season which will again lead to some deaths!

Screenshot_60

Candace pulling out the garbage bags from the counter under the sink had me rolling as well. at least she did not pull out a bag filled with 20 other Wal-Mart bags! Don’t lie, we all have those somewhere in our houses…

This is just my own speculation, but I would also love to get your theories in the comment section below.

I know this blog seemed harsher than my other theory blogs, but I really want the show to do well. I want it to get better and better with each season/episode.

Screenshot_32

Instead of adding more and more to the plot, I would like for old (or even forgotten) plot points to be revisited and resolved before adding more to the story.

Don’t worry, I will still watch the show, tweet and write these blogs. I just don’t want to ignore some flaws in the series by being a fan boy. Hoping that there are some surprises around the corner that not even I expected to keep my blood flowing!

Screenshot_66

What did you think of the episode? Will the pace pick up in the next few episodes? Did you like the character shift in Maggie and Jeffrey?

Fellow HAHN fans, our show has finally returned to television giving us all a reason to love Mondays. We can now appreciate Monday because we know that the next day will bring up a new episode of our favorite late night drama.

The Waters Run Deep brings us back to our favorite characters dealing with the aftermath of the dramatic conclusion of Season 3.

We see the Haves getting arrested and Quincy got carved like a Christmas turkey by Jeffrey.

Basically, this new episode was covering what the characters were doing to adjust to their new dilemmas.

I will do another blog covering my thoughts on the episode as a whole, but this blog is going to focus on Maggie Day.

The reason that this blog is just now coming out is because I did not want to write while I was angry. Why was I angry with the HAHN back on the air?

It has to do with what happened in this episode, but I will save that “rant” for my next blog. This blog will just be about the scene between Maggie and Landon.

Based on articles posted online by Allison McAtee from interviews, Maggie Day was supposed to appear in only a handful of episodes. However, with some tweaks to the script, Maggie played a much bigger role in the overall plot. While some fans are not fond of her character, I must say that I actually like her.

I am not saying that I like her because she is trying to break apart the “Harrington dynasty.” Overall, I like her character being a powerful woman that is not crazy. However, that is not the case when it comes to this episode.

Maggie did not go psycho, but she pretty much went out of her character.

She has always been the “in the background” type of person who was calm and calculating. I dare say that she was more dangerous than Veronica or Candace because she was not fueled by her emotions. When Maggie saw something (or someone like David) that she wanted, we would see her plan out every move.

She did not do anything without a reason, and she was almost like the female version of David because he told Candace that he is not ruled by emotion. Though this is somewhat disproved when it comes to Veronica…

Maggie is pretty distraught that “her man” was put into prison, and still believes that she can get him to the governor’s mansion. She “believes in him” as she puts it, and Landon is quick to call her out for her bull.

The only other time I have seen her this flustered was when she was trying to hold off the press conference because Jim was not there (he was still in custody by Candace).

Then when she threw all of her cards on the table with Veronica while revealing what REALLY happened between her and David.

Her new plan is to leak a story to the press about Jim covering up Wyatt’s hit-and-run case, and how he has been in some sort of a more than friendly relationship with Veronica.

She then finally gives Landon the photos of Veronica and Benny to use as proof of Veronica being in compromising positions with her clients.

Landon pleads with his boss that she is making a huge mistake because she is only doing this to get with David. He even warns her that the Haves were willing to cover up a murder, and they will come after her with a vengeance.

Maggie then goes into a rant about how she IS the good woman that David deserves. Basically, she is saying that she is a good woman, but she is trying to sabotage David’s marriage. I am not saying that the marriage was already in jeopardy, but she has not right to interfere.

Screenshot_41

I think it is safe to assume that there have been other “Davids” during Maggie’s career in political as a campaign manager. Why do I say that?

She drops two lines of dialogue that are spread out between the ending of Season 2, and the first episode of Season 4 (the one we saw last week).

When Veronica was in her face about having an affair, she tells her that she is not the first overprotective wife that she has encountered. Last week, Maggie told Landon that none of “her tricks” have worked on David.

Screenshot_46

It is clear that she has tried to get “her man” in the past, and it might be safe to assume that some of those men were married!

Given that this was the first episode of the new season, I think we all know that this plan is going to backfire in her face either during the midseason finale or the season finale.

Screenshot_85

She could be the person that dies at the end of this season. We have seen that at the ending of each season, Tyler Perry kills off one (or more) of the characters!

After making it this far into the blog, you are probably wondering why I seemed upset at the beginning of this piece.

I am frustrated because it just seemed out of leftfield for Maggie to suddenly drop the ball so hard. Landon warned her about Jim and Veronica coming after her for that story. Then he even says that she is only doing this to get David, and not because she “believes” in his ability to win.

What really makes me mad is that Maggie ended Season 3 on such a high note. The truth about that night at the hotel was finally revealed to Veronica, she called her out in her own home. Then she revealed that she knew the Ice Queen was having an affair!

I get that seeing “her man” get arrested would have her upset, but she is just making an EXTREMELY stupid mistake that is going to backfire on her.

Screenshot_66

Veronica has already told Katheryn that she is concocting a plan while sitting in their jail cell in order to get back at Wyatt, Jennifer and everyone else who has disrespected her in the prison.

Can you imagine what she will do to Maggie after that story is released?

Really it comes down to an intelligent character like Maggie doing something that is completely stupid just to make the story move along that plucks my nerves.

She kept telling Landon that “a source” was giving her all of the information that she told him to leak to the press. That sounds like a solid plan, but you have to remember that Veronica will know that it was Maggie.

Last season, Maggie showed Veronica the photos of her and Benny! Veronica is going to somehow come out of that prison like a bat out of hell, and she will bite Maggie’s head off! Again, this is not something the Maggie that I have seen so far would do. She must really think that Jim and Veronica are going to stay behind bars.

Screenshot_44

All she had to do was continue to sit on the sidelines, and then she could watch things play out in her favor.

Seriously, David would have eventually discovered the affair that his wife was having with Benny. Remember that he told Veronica that cheating on him would be the final straw. He would be the one to end the marriage if she ever cheated on him.

Maggie is going to pop the top of that can by releasing the story. However, how will David feel about that because he told her to not have someone follow his wife anymore?

Screenshot_53

Her actions might actually end David’s marriage, but I do not think that he will come running into her arms like she might think.

It is probably not in David’s mind to run for office after the story leaks because he is a man of honor. I do not know if he will take some of the blame off of Jim about the hit-and-run cover up, but I know that he will not like that story one bit!

Screenshot_5

Not to jump off of the main topic of this blog, but I think Maggie’s story is going to negatively affect the Young Family.

Remember that those photos are of Veronica and Benny. They will most likely be posted all over the national television stations just as Celine revealing her children with Jim were.

Screenshot_57

I think that Hanna will realize that Benny was right about coming to his home with Quincy Jr. The child service people know that her house burnt down, and she might lose custody because she does not have a stable home for her grandson.

She will finally give in (despite her feelings about the house) resulting in her moving into Benny’s house.

Child services will see that Benny has a good job with the towing company, and that the house is paid for providing a nice place for little Q.

However, once those photos get leaked to the press…

Screenshot_19

The roof is going to fly off of the house because child services will see that Benny was an ex-con involved with his attorney! Hanna will lose it (as always), and they will potentially lose custody of little Q.

Based on the above assumption about how the story will affect the Youngs, I would estimate that the story will reach the presses during the midseason finale.

That is how Tyler typically ends the middle of the series; on a high note that keeps the fans wanting more!

Screenshot_36

Do you think that Maggie has dug her own grave with her plan? How do you think the released story will affect the Young family? Will David finally be her man, or is Maggie just playing herself?
